Stitches - ARGH!

About two weeks ago we got a call from the school saying Tayler had fallen and might need stitches. So off we went and sure enough 4 stitches were needed to close up her chin.  She had bounced off the teeter-todder and hit the metal cross bar - did I tell you how much I hate Tetter- todders!

So all is good now - my friend Bev - who is a nurse, came over with all her fancy utensils and took them out for us - saved us a trip to the clinic on Halloween night.

So last night I was walking down the driveway on my way home from work, I stopped to talk with our neightbours, when all of a sudden here comes Ed and the kids in the car. I waved at him and he stops all breathless to annouce we have to go BACK to Emergency - now Russ needs stitches! WHAT! Really?

So this time Russ and his friend were playing with sticks - can you see where this is going? - and up the stick went and down it came on Russ's head ! So two stitches later Russ is put back together. So I read the riot act to Dylan that we are NOT coming back to Emergency for any more injuries - RIGHT DYLAN! (things come in threes - right and Dylan so far has not had stitches - NO MORE INJURIES!!!!

Argh I tell you they are going to start to wonder about these kids!

Big Country!

I love working here - I have way too much fun! Joanne and I work in the office and Bob, Brandon and Mitch come and go in the trucks delivering freight.

Pheasant hunting!

A couple weekends ago we were invited out Pheasant hunting, with Bob (owns Big Country where I work). We had a really fun afternoon!

First we went to the area where the birds are raised and there were so many different exotic birds the kids (and me) were fasinated, just looking through thte pens.

After they caught all the birds the guys were taking out, we headed out about 5 miles up in the bush. The area and beautiful open fields.

Bob has two hunting dogs he brought out too - Issy and Mira - they were so excited but when it came down to working and finding the birds they were amazing to watch!

Once the birds were let go there were three groups of 4 guys and one (or in our case 2) dogs to track them.

At one point he had 5 two in hand, two in the other and one under his arm

When we first came up we "planted" 5 birds in here and left them until we were heading out. Instead of going out in groups they stayed in a line and the dogs flushed them out

I think this looks like Kevin from the movie "UP" Russ agreed! This was one of the other exotic birds - I think it was from the Himilayas

We had a really fun time - we came home with 5 pheasant and a Chukar they were all really yummy - Ed and the boys had a blast too - Dylan can even say he got one!

Happy Halloween (a few days late!)

  We had a fun Halloween - pumpkin carving, dressing up, trick or treating and FIREWORKS!

This year was not as cold - thank goodness - I was trying to figure out how I was going to get that dress on over a winter jacket!

The fireworks were wonderful again - the Volunteer Fire Dept put them on, we even had hot dogs and hot chocolate while we watched!

I was going to take more pictures but we ran out of the house and my camera was on the table so these were taken when got home - ARGH!

Spice loves to hang out in the sunbeams on her hill! This was taken in August when it was much warmer than now - BBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR October!

Tay and I went to the Fall Fair and a lady was there with saddles she sells from Vernon. Tay and I both found saddles we want. I love this its pink and brown one with a pink pad under it, a fuzzy little donkey on it . Tay fell in love. I didn't get to sit in the one I wanted, but its a western one that is on the TOP of my wish list!  as well as a matching bridle!
( Ed said I have to get a western one so he can ride Spice too!)

This saddle was given to me a year and half ago by a wonderful lady that taught me all I know about horses. Its so exciting for me to be able to ride in it again on my own horse.
Not only did I ride in it every weekend as a kid, but I also rode in it at our wedding on Sherry.
  Talk about sentimental value!

Fireman for a day!

Last week was fire prevention week, so the kids got a visit by the Forest Grove Volunteer Fire Dept and Sparky the fire dog. Durign the assembly Russell was taken aside and told he would the schools fire Cheif for a day! He was so Excited!!!
He got to wear the cheifs hat ride in the fire truck to town with Sparky, he had lunch with the firefighters at the Firehouse Diner (how appropriate) and he recieved a very special sweat shirt with the FGV fore Dept logo on it! Oh and his name in the paper!

Fall fishing trip

A couple weekends ago we decided to head out to Spanish lake for breakfast, some fishing and a bit of hunting along the shoreline and the road.

Spanish Lake is located on the edge of Wells Grey Provincial Park, east and a bit south of us. Its about an hour and a half on logging roads from our house and well worth the drive!

There is a little (I stress little) waterfall at the tree line - we went fishing there and Ed had to keeping paddling so we didn't go for a ride!

At one point we pulled up to shore and she jumped out before I could stop her, right into the MUD - EWWWW, so I had her sit up on the bow of the boat so she couldn't get my shoes soaked.  She sat there for 45 minutes it was so cute. As you can see she barely fits there I put one of the paddles under her bum so she wouldn't fall off backwards
