Beautiful Friday

The boys had a Pro-D day today so we started the day off right with a breakfast of sourdough pancakes, hash browns, bacon, and eggs. We played inside till it warmed up and became beautiful. Then we spent almost the entire day outside, except when we came in to make Cinnamon Buns!

OH and they were soooooo good too!

Russ and Dylan did some sledding (yes in a HUGE cardboard box). Dylan is getting better and better with the 4 wheeler - here he is coming from the shop with a shovel for Mom. Its blurry because he was too far away for my camera.

Olympic Hockey - Kelsey style (we even have a referee in Black and White) And of Course fort building, well teepees - sort of!
The day has been a very mixed bag of weather - we had snow falling this morning - it was so pretty and peaceful, then the sun came out and the late morning and afternoon were warm and sunny. Now after dinner and getting on to bedtime rain - oh and we had some wind too.

Electricity - Such a wonderful thing!

Yes we have electricity!!! Yippy! Ed ran the line to the house yesterday and now we have lights, 24 hour phone, computer all the wonderful conveniences that "plug-in". I was marvelling at the fact that we have been without constant electricity for 7 months, is that crazy or what!!!
Our house at night, check out the lit windows - ohhhhhhhhhhhhh nice eh?
Yippy working lights!!

More from Valentines Day

After our scenic Sunday afternoon drive, we went home and puttered all afternoon. It was absolutely gorgeous out, I did some burning (our piles right now are countless and all of them taller than me) cleaned up the cabin (which needed to happen. When I moved out I shut the door, but someone could have hurt themselves upon entry - it was that bad!) Filled in some holes and trenches - well, started too, since the ground is still partly frozen digging is almost impossible. But the areas that get sunlight are INCREDIBLY muddy!!! and I was goofing around with the camera and look what I found - different color exposures! Oh what Fun!

The clouds were crazy today, Dylan was sure we were going to get a thunder storm, however we did get a sprinkling of rain

Happy Valentines Day

Today was BEAUTIFUL!!! we went into town for breakfast, picked up some electrical bits and headed home, but not before taking a scenic detour up a side road. It was really pretty, with lots of funky things to see.

Old style barn hidden in the trees

Fancy gate and behind it in the trees was a log barn it was gorgeous.

More old barns

And a unique carving or maybe it was supposed to be a carving???

Exploring!

Every weekend is firewood weekend, but we all enjoy getting out and exploring. This time I drove the 4wheeler, while the kids rode in the trailer pulled by the tractor.
After we filled the trailer we went for a walk through the forest, found lots of interesting things to look at.

Tay was having a ball, she looked so cute in her T-shirt and puffy snow pants
We are not sure what went after this tree but the kids were really interested. Holes right to the roots. I figured either the woodpecker couldn't fly or something else went after this tree!

Blue sky and warm temperatures and to finish the day, a wonderful sunset!

Brings a smile to my face

I am sitting here in my cozy office, with my sewing machine on one side, my computer on the other, and I am mending countless pairs of little boy pants with torn knees. I didn't realize how many there were - no wonder the boys never have any pants to wear!

There is something relaxing about mending the boys favorite pants with well worn knees, from playing hard at whatever it is they find during any one day! Brings a smile to my face knowing they are happy!

Great Weekend!

Mom and Dad came up last weekend, and we had a ball! I tried to keep it a secret from the kids but I couldn't do it, I was so excited I told them!
Ed was down in Victoria for a few days last week, and traveled back up with Mom and Dad (well sort of, Dad left Ed in the dust, Wilson can't keep up to the Black Streak!) I know I will hear about that one! They arrived just after the kids came home from school. Mom and Dad were so excited to finally see the house, and relate what they have been hearing over the phone and through the blog. They gave the kids Nerf guns and holy man you had to duck everywhere you went - Even Ed was really enjoying them!
Saturday we went into 100 Mile House for Breakfast, and did some shopping. Mom and Dad met up with Larry and Sharon for coffee, but we headed back home I wanted to get the turkey in the oven. And get dinner started.

Ed was out doing shop stuff when everyone arrived back, so we all headed for the shop to see all the goings on. After a walk and snow ball fight (Sharon took on the kids) we had a nice warm tea and headed out for firewood.

The Turkey was awesome, if I do say so myself, and my pumpkin (to Pie) for dessert, ohhhhhh so yummy.

Sunday morning was lazy! I don't think I got out of my PJs till about 10:30 it was so nice! Mom and Dad came out late morning and we just relaxed and drank tea. We decided to go out for Chinese food for dinner - works for me ! And swim at the Red Coach, where Mom and Dad were staying. Mom braved the pool with the kids but it was toooooo cold for me, I kept eye on everyone from the hot tub ahhhhhhhh!

Rush Hour on Bates Rd

This is the most traffic we saw all day - a cattle drive, we waded through it for quite a while before we made it to our driveway. AAAHHHHHHHHHHH Country living!
