Having fun with Uncle Matt

Last weekend Matt came up for a visit. We had specific instructions there was to be no work and lots of fishing, we could do that!

He came in Thursday evening just before I had to go to work, so I had a quick visit and left, while Ed and the kids showed Matt around and had fun on the quad.
Friday Matt was up and ready to go fishing, so after running around gathering supplies and dragging kids out of bed they headed off for a day of fishing and exploring.
Unfortunately I didn't go with them, we figured if I went with them, they would have to come back early so I could get off to work and they would miss out out on an afternoons worth of fishing. So I decided to go visiting and horseback riding - which was fine with me too.

When I got home from work Friday night I was cheesed because the house was dark and I thought everyone went to bed - but when I got out of the car, here they were hanging out around the campfire so we sat and chatted late into the night .

Saturday we got off to a later start. While Ed and Matt tuned up the quad, I readied the laundry - yippy - yeah right. I headed out to town to do laundry and they met up with me a half an hour later. We wandered around some of the shops and grabbed some dinner stuff and headed home to see if we could get the BBQ hooked up.  Unfortunately we we were missing a few pieces so we resorted to the next best thing - camp fire! Steaks and potatoes cooked by the fire and corn on the cob - yummmmmmmmmy!
After dinner we headed off to Ruth lake to cool the dogs off and more fishing it was a really great evening! and a wonderful visit - Hopefully next visit we will see Hayley, Jessie and Auntie Leanne - they were out in Saskachewan visiting grandma and grandpa - hopefully see them soon!

Cooking steak over the fire - mmmmmmmmmmm good. We tried to get the BBQ going but we didn't have the proper fittings - so next best thing!

My lovely friend Erin has joined a group where they post "Flowers for you Friday" on their blogs. Now I know it should be tomorrow- not today- but with the way my days go I will miss it tomorrow and then forget again - like I have done for the past 2 weeks.

Another milestone!

We have come a long way from 1 year ago - yes it is one year as of July 27 unbelievable.  We have accomplished another huge milestone - RUNNING WATER - and just running to get water but we have water running out of facets. And showers - yes SHOWERS - oh my you have no idea how great it is to walk up and turn the water on! Before I had to plan - run and get water (or pump it from the hand pump) heat it up on the stove, pour it into the shower bag below - without burning myself - its not as easy as it looks! and then carry the bag up and heave it up on top of the shower unit ( tub walls and roof all in one) then jump in and hope it is the right temperature.

BYE BYE SHOWER BAG - HELLO RUNNING WATER!!!

Can you tell we are super excited about this milestone!!!

Hot July Nights!

On July 9,10 &11 100 Mile House hosted the Hot July Nights cars and Bike Show. They had over 150 Entries from all over the province and beyond. Everything from a race car to roadsters, trailer bound fixer-

ups and homemade wooden cars.

I gave the kids the cameras so they could take pictures of the cars for Grandpa, but I realized after awhile they were real close ups, such as this one above. But they were having fun picking out cars for photos.

This one had California plates on it, I can't imagine driving up from California in this, the roof bearly came up to my hips.

The boys were really taken by the car that had wings. I was just reminded by Erin that it is the "Back to the Future" car.

Fishing with Grandma and Grandpa

Grandma and Grandpa Kelsey came up for a week mid July and we had a great visit.  Last year when they were helping us build, they never got a chance to see any of the countryside. So this time we tried to get a little bit of sightseeing in, so Ed took them fishing out to Spanish Lake, which is about an hour from here. Everyone had a wondeful time despite the not so great weather and bugs. In total they caught 11 fish (I think) so we had fish and chip dinner.

Tremors

We have figured out how they created the movie Tremors

First you rent the crazy looking machine - the kids are saying ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Next you lower it to the ground and start the engine

 And voila you have Tremors - or a really bad mole problem. Fortunately for us its neither, but now we can bury water and electrical lines.

Too funny!

I was reading my last post about the bear and laughed so hard, as my typing skills leave alot to be desired! 

Apparently I need to reread what I have typed and spell check as well.

I hope you laughed as hard as I did, brought tears to my eyes.

Just to clarify The bear popped into the bush not pooped - But I do think pooped is way funnier!

Driving home from Froest Grove

Now if you look real close you will see the bear that crossed in front of me a couple weeks ago. Off tot he left of the photo is in the dump and off to the right (where its headed) is Bates Rd. where we live.  I took this while I was driving - how dangerous is that! So far this is the second one I have seen since we moved here last year. Ed has seen many of them including a Cinnamon Bear last week east of here. He was taking the kids and his parents fishing at Spanish lake and it popped out of the bush and ran in front of the car a little way and pooped back in the bush - Marg was so impressed but no one could get a picture fast enough - I was out riding that day.

Check out my Garden

I am so excited about my little garden. So far most things have come up, there are potatoes, radishes, carrots herbs, rhubarb, squash, peas, beans, tomamtoes and lettuce and spinach.  So far most of it is still really tiny, but its growing and that is what has made me happy!

I already have plans for next year and how to make it better, but for a first try I am happy with thte progress.

Eds fishing holiday

A couple weekends ago Ed and a friend took three days and went fishing out on Quesnel lake.  The scenery was absolutely beautiful and they saw some amazing places along the lake shore. 

The shoreline was very diverse from beautiful sandy beaches to rock jutting straight up out of the water.

Jasons friends cabin at the east end of Quesnel lake.  Jason and Bev spent 5 weeks here one year for a vacation.  Since then it was ransacked by a grizzly bear.  Too close for comfort for me.

I don't know the name of these falls but Ed said you could hear and feel them for miles along the lake. You can kind of get a sense of the size from the trees along the shoreline at the base of the falls.

The kids and I had a bit of fun among the chores we had to do. We all had a sleep over at Bev and Jasons and had a yummy waffle breakfast.  We went to town and did all the chores landry grocery, shopping, banking and then came home and hung out together. The night Ed and Jason came back we had a big dinner at their house and heard all the tales of the weekend.

I have been a very bad blogger over the past few weeks! To tell you the truth I haven't made it to my computer for more than a few minutes which is not enough time to write a post.  So over the next few days I am going to try catch up let everyone know what is going on in our neck of the province.

Hello from Tay

Since we can't be with you tonight here is a hello from Tay.

We are having fun together, we visited the neighbours at the top of the driveway this afternoon for a couple hours and have done alot of clean up and tomorrow we are going to go see the horses and maybe see if our friends Cora Seirra And River are home. We do wish we could be with you, but we will be thinking of everybody - have a great evening!!!

Day at Lake of The Trees

Tuesday June 22/10 (whoa this post is way behind, better late than never!) Anyway the school went to Lake of the Trees Bible Camp for the day. It was so beautiful and so much for he kids to do it was amazing! A huge playground, mini golf, sand pit, Archery, Riflery, climbing wall, kayaking, canoeing and of course swimming!

Dylans favorite riflery - he was disappointed to find out he only got 4 shots so he was careful to make the shots count, see the concentration!

Oh but the archery was fun too, took a bit to get used to but he enjoyed it. His friend Sierra (in the forefront) was natural

Russ climbing the walls of the sand pit, he was about 10 feet up the side and thoroughly enjoying sliding jumping and digging.

All the kids were split up in three groups - the younger ones went for a nature walk and to the sand pit then to the playground and off to the beach for kayak rides with Mrs. Cushing (primary teacher) The older kids were split in two groups and headed of to do archery, climbing on the wall and archery. So much Fun!!!

It was such a fun day and a beautiful location, way off the beaten path.
