Ornament Swap

Yippy it Ornament Swap time again!!!
I have participated for 3 years (I think) and had so much fun. and received some beautiful ornaments for our tree. I love looking at the ornaments as they go on the tree and thinking of the story or person that goes with them

This year I am partnered with Lisa in Nova Scotia - so excited !!!

Pictures from last weekend

Last Saturday I took the kids to see the Harlem Crowns playing at Peter Skeene Ogden High School here in 100 Mile House. We had so much fun, it was super funny, fast paced, action packed and amazing.
They played a great game with the high school senior team, there were many times the high school kids didn't know where to look the ball was moving so fast. The players and refs were great sports through the whole game.
One of the guys from the Harlem team was 6 foot 9 - Dylan couldn't believe how tall he was!

After the game we went for Ice Cream at the Chew and Chat - the old Dairy Queen. It was so yummy, haven't had a dipped cone for so long!

Sunday morning we went to the local Legion in Forest Grove and attended the Remembrance Day service. It was wonderful, this was our first here in "the Grove"

Wreath laid from the Canim Lake Band, the drummers brought tears to my eyes.

Here a cadet guards the cenotaph during the ceremony.

I dress the kids in full snow gear and glad I did as it was -6 and we were outside for about 45 minutes for the ceremony. I had my scarf pulled up over my face to keep my nose warm.
At the end of the ceremony the children were all called upon to lay poppies on the wreaths, I thought this was a great way to include the kids.
After the ceremony the Legion put on a complimentary luncheon for everyone it was really nice.

Snowy Day

Couple days ago the snow started, lasted all morning  and then turned sunny in the afternoon
Pictures from work

At home about an inch and half of snow fell.
The kids suited up and went sledding into the evening and by morning it was all gone again.
This weekend is supposed to be between 6 and 9 degrees above zero and rainy.

On Halloween we had freezing rain, thats a bit scary. We had to chip holes in the ice on the truck and car windshields so we could see. The main roads weren't too bad, just wet.
I took my car in that day and had the winter tires put on and thank goodness because the next morning the school buses were cancelled because of icy roads, but with my new tires it was a breeze - I LOVE THEM!!!
The kids came home from school so excited as there was only 8 kids at the school all day and they had the leftovers from the party the day before and had a really fun day! Yesterday when I took them in they were really hoping the buses were cancelled again! Not so lucky, it was just rainy.

Halloween

Halloween was a super fun day for the kids
They had a party at the school in the afternoon, so we were running around in the morning getting costumes ready, as well as trying not to be late for school.

When I came home from work we rushed around getting Russ's costume finished (he didn't want to dress up in the morning) and ran out the door.
We had to be finished trick or treating before the fireworks at 7:30 - thats why the rush.
First house for trick or treating!

Once we were finished walking through the neighborhood we went over to the community hall for hot dogs, hot chocolate and fireworks. The fireworks were gorgeous, once again the Forest Grove Volunteer fire fighters out did themselves!

When we were home the kids quickly sorted their candy and had a few more samples before bed.
I remember going out for hours with a pillow case and getting LOTS of candy, not my kids they only want to go to a few houses and are very excited about the candy they get - gotta love it!!! But not enough for Mom to sneak very many pieces - heehee.

Winter Has Arrived

Okay I knew it would happen. Its inevitable right, the seasons come and go.

The fall colors started about a month ago and the temperature is slowly dropping (except for the other day when it dropped to -10 - thank goodness it has warmed up a bit)

Well Tuesday we had our first real snow fall.
Ed drove me to work the next morning (I still have summer tires on) we didn't get tons of snow but enough to make the road super slippy

Best Little Hardware Store Anywhere!

This is one of our frequent stops in Forest Grove. On the far end is the Post Office, in the middle is Forest Grove Supplies - "The best Little Hardware Store Anywhere" and Karens Haircare is behind the white door on this end just behind the hydro pole is Off Road Pizza.

Usually around 4pm this area is jammed with cars, people picking their mail, catching up with friends and visiting the stores and Legion (right next door)

This little store has everything and if he doesn't have it he can get it. Ed and I have spent alot of money and time in here!! Over the summer I helped John out a few times and worked in the store, I really enjoyed it.

As you can see it is full of all sorts of items from plumbing, electrical, and painting to tools, kitchen needs to pet and livestock needs. I am always amazed how much John can fit in this store!

Haircuts

Everytime the kids get haircuts I always want to do a before and after shot and always forget.
This time I remembered half way through so here they are
Tayler had two inches taken off, and she kept telling Karen please cut my bangs so I can see

Russ Before

Russ during and no he is not being pushed out of the chair - his mom is a bad photographer.
And there is no after because he wouldn't stand still

When they were all done we came home and Tay set up a salon for her stuffed animals .
I remember doing this as kid and I did trim their hair so I had a few very bald stuffies.
I told Tay this, so she decided not trim them but just to pretend.

Fall Colours

The leaves have been changing for the past month or so (thank goodness for date stamps) The fall colours are just beautiful!!!
Bates road along our neighbors hayfield

A hay barn just past our place

I love the view across this field the mountains in the background  are near Canim Lake

Cows grazing near 100 Mile House. I stopped to take this picture because I passed a bunch of vehicles ;pulled over taking pictures so I thought I would too - what I didn't realize at the time was they were taking pictures of a Bull Elf (with huge antlers) that was harassing the cows. There was an article about him in the paper the following week. DARN I should have looked harder at what they were taking pictures of.

Tayler taking Pictures

I was downloading pictures from both my cameras and I had to laugh, I think Tayler got a hold of one of the cameras and started clicking everywhere.
Why do I think Tayler, check them out and you'll understand

Half a truck

Level of the shot

looks like she could have been kneeling down

close up of the Rooster
This one makes me smile - who takes a picture of a horses rear - Tayler does...

I think she was laying in the grass for this one.
There were many more and a few X-rated ones that involved the rooster and a chicken.

She always makes me laugh when I see the photos she has taken!

Exploring

One beautiful day near the end of August found us lounging in the big field.
Shayleigh was sniffing around this little bush and her tail was going a mile an hour, the boys figured she found a mouse nest so they got in the action. They probably spent 15 minutes looking but never did find anything.
My cutie!

Come on Shayleigh - what do you smell???

More cupboards

Check it out I have upper cabinets - Yippy
Looking at this picture my kitchen looks super cluttered but its well organized for my liking.
This post has been a long time coming - we put them up in July!

New additions

We have been talking about getting kittens for a long time but Mommy was hesitant because it would be more work for her. Well I finally broke down and we have two new babies in the house terrorizing the Shayleigh and Honey. Poor Shay was scared to go anywhere near them for about a week and Honey still doesn't like them after 2 weeks. BUT cute! good thing too....
This is Maple

This is Tiger

Catching up

As you probably noticed from the lack of posts we have been crazy busy!! We have had lots of visitors, full schedules with school back in, new little additions to the family and unexpected - though always expected arrival of winter.

Enjoy the new posts - Happy fall!

Parksville

To end off our summer vacation the kids and I went to the Island and spent a week camping with my Dad, Matt, Leanne and the girls.

We had tons of fun - the kids did laps and laps and laps of the campsite on their bikes, back and forth to the beach and the play park, and playing games with each other.

Morning beach walk with Dylan
aren't they cute

And silly too!

I couldn't let them have all the fun without me

Gorgeous sunsets

Tayler kitty and Jessie kitty - they decorated the masks and had a ball with them

Skim boarding - Dylan figured it out last year and was getting some fancy moves in

Russ was trying so hard but didn't have enough time to master it

Evening bike ride with headlamps - they passed one lady and she said - hey look they have headlights - so funny the way she said it

I love the colors in the sunset!
They are growing so fast!

We visited Momoko on the way home - she made us a HUGE lunch for the ride home - we didn't have to stop for eats after Momokos lunch!
We had so much fun - I see this becoming a yearly tradition of camping together with Dad and Matt and his family!!

Looking forward to next year!
