Midnight Visitors

About a week ago we had a couple big moose walk through the front yard. Unfortunately we were all asleep so we never saw them, but Ed found tracks the next morning and a bed near the solar panels where one slept for the night.  There was a second bed a couple hundred yards away from the first one, I didn't get a picture of that one, because on my way over I found a snow covered trench and ended up waist deep in snow. Good thing no one was following me with a camera as I was probably quite a sight by the time I got up. (I wasn't wearing gloves at the time so I didn't want to put my hands down so I had to roll around to get up - I know goofy move but I didn't get cold hands ;-)

Sunday Morning Beauty

 It is a clear, crisp beautiful morning up here and I couldn't resist sharing it with you!  Most of these pictures are taken of the view out of the upstairs window at the back of the house. We have had a couple days now of no snowfall and warmer temperatures (still below zero but warmer than they have been) I am surprised the snow has stayed on the branches of the trees.

 Greg and Scott came down from Prince Rupert - thanks for letting them go Amy! for a week and helped Ed do all the above. They were always laughing at one thing or another and having a good time playing and working at the same time. Ed and I and the kids send a HUGE thanks to them for all their help and great visit we had a blast - This should happen more often you guys!

Surprise Visit!

The following couple of days after Christmas we fairly relaxing and low key. We went and spent the afternoon with our relatives at Horse Lake. We had such a nice time and the kids were very excited to get little presents of Playmobile! Monday we spent the day playing with new toys and the Wii and tidying up. Around about suppertime two trucks came in the driveway to surprise the kids, Matt, Leanne, Hayley and Jessie, and Grandma and Grandpa, the kids were so excited!!!!!!!

We spent the evening visiting and the kids disappeared playing and exploring, Tayler and Jessie were inseparable for the whole 3 days!

We spent the following day sledding here and at the school, playing visiting and eating! We had another huge turkey dinner with all the trimmings! and topped off the night with a huge bonfire!

Wednesday Ed drove me to work and dropped the kids off with Mom and Dad and they all spent the day in town, shopping and having lunch out and playing with their new toys! It was sonderful for the kids to get to spend the day with everyone.  That night we all went out for a nice dinner in town and headed home a bit early as they were leaving early the next morning.

The Magic of the holidays



Christmas Eve I had to work in the afternoon, so the kids and I spent the morning getting little things done and preparing for Santa.  I went to work around 12:30 and the kids and Ed hung out till I got home.  I made a super quick dinner and we went over to Bev and Jasons for appies and snow fun. We had the Christmas Eve Olympics, timing the kids to see how fast they could get to the bottom of the hill on their sleds then on skies (crouched but not buckled in) then they had a snow ball throwing contest - after all the games they were given prizes (presents) we had a wonderful time and headed for home around 10:30 to wait for "The big Guy" The kids were soooooooooooooooooooooo excited I didn't thin they would go to sleep, but lo and behold 10 minutes later there was silence and snoring.

Christmas morning Dylan woke us up at 7:45 super excited about the preses under the tree - " you should see it mom the tree is overflowing!" They had opened the stockings that were hung at the end of their beds and Santa had filled them with gifts and chocolates. It was very hard to keep from ripping and tearing everything in sight but they were pretty good and keep it to a minimum.

 The weekend before Christmas my oven decided to stop working and we had not isolated the problem till Dec23 so I was in panic mode - how am I going to cook a turkey??? Luckily Christmas Eve the part came up on the bus and Ed replaced it Christmas day and voila beautiful turkey dinner- whew!

We had a wonderful Christmas and the kids loved playing with all their new toys all day long! And this year we spent the whole Christmas int he house - last year we had not moved in yet so it was very cold and once the presents were opened the kids were back to the warmth of the cabin. The changes over one year are mind boggling!
